INTERFER: Foreign Interference in the Context of Geopolitical and Technological Change

2025–2028 · OP JAK · Research team member. INTERFER examines foreign interference in the context of contemporary geopolitical and technological change. The project studies how foreign interference affects public attitudes, how states adapt to such interference domestically and through foreign policy, and how technological and geo-economic developments transform the instruments through which external actors seek to exert influence.

ActEU: Towards a New Era of Representative Democracy: Activating European Citizens' Trust in Times of Crises and Polarization

2023–2026 · Horizon Europe · Research team member. ActEU examined the drivers of political trust, legitimacy, and representation in European democracies during periods of crisis and political polarization. My work within the project focused particularly on Central European politics, populism, emerging political cleavages, and political representation.

Mapping and Explaining the Politicisation and Framing of European Integration in the Political Discourse of Central and Eastern European Countries

2023–2025 · Czech Science Foundation (GAČR) · Principal Investigator. This project examined how European integration was politicised and framed in political discourse across Central and Eastern Europe. It mapped variation in the salience and framing of European issues and investigated how political, institutional, and party-level factors help explain differences across actors, countries, and political contexts.

Immigrants, Asylum Seekers, and Refugees during the EU Migration Crisis: Analysing Their Framing and Representation in Central and Eastern Europe

2020–2022 · Czech Science Foundation (GAČR) · Principal Investigator. This project examined how migration, migrants, asylum seekers, and refugees were portrayed in political and media discourse in Central and Eastern Europe. It investigated variation in framing across countries, political actors, media, migrant groups, and different phases of the European migration crisis.

EU IDEA: EU Integration and Differentiation for Effectiveness and Accountability

2019–2021 · Horizon 2020 · Research team member. EU IDEA examined differentiated integration as a feature of contemporary European governance and assessed its implications for effectiveness, accountability, and democratic legitimacy. My work focused particularly on differentiation from the perspective of smaller member states and on informal differentiated integration in EU foreign and security policy.
